Sewing

 Finally, I’m sewing again. Nothing too grand, but it’s been fun to have a space in which  to sew again.

I’m still not very organized inside the shed, but have enjoyed stopping to sew. I have SO many things that I have collected through the years. It’ll be fun to see if I can make a dent in those!

Still waiting

 

My husband has been working hard to get this shed ready for me. It now has a window, walls, and a heat/air source. Just a little trim work on the inside and I’ll be moving all my sewing things inside. 

The only sewing I’ve done lately was cutting up a vintage table cloth and making dish towels. I’ll try to get a photo for next time. 

The light is shining at the end of the tunnel. The pool is ready. And school is out next week. 

We are ready for summer!

Cross Stitch and More

 I had fun doing this quick stitch. I still need to add a few leaves to have it finished.

I had no post last week because no stitching was done. But look what the Easter bunny brought! I have a new she shed that we are trying to get ready for me to use. I’m very excited about this.

And this has been happening:

We are having a mother in law type suite added to our house. This is where our daughter and granddaughter will live. Their new space will open to their existing bedrooms. We are also very excited about this!

So lots of noise and activity at our house over the past few weeks. 

It’s a wrap!

It was a good week of stitching. Mistakes??? Yes! But I’m going to keep on stitching!

Not much again

 A little more of her dress top, it’s been a busy week. Kids and grandkids are here. 🥰

And a new grand puppy. Meet Tuffy. ❤️

Not much, but progress

 Not much difference from last week,

But  a little progress has been made. 

Finished the butterfly quilt

 It’s wonky and far from perfect, but we love it. Annabelle helped make the butterflies.

The top was quilted and tied onto a thrifted factory made quilt, then bound together with the blue binding. Very frugal and very warm.

I no longer having a sewing room, but I have a little area in my bedroom set up for sewing. It was difficult to wrangle this quilt through the machine. I swore the whole time that I was sewing, that this is my last ever quilt. We shall see. 🤣

I didn’t post last week because I really didn’t have a lot to show, even though I had worked on the quilt.

I’ve made a small amount of progress on my Kitty cross stitch. I’m hoping to focus on the kitty this week.

We’ve all been under the weather this week. Lots of coughing and blowing. And a little stitching done.

Not much to see here, but I’m using my blog as a weekly journal for sewing projects. 

I’m really enjoying this cross stitch piece by Teresa Kogut. Her patterns are so easy to follow and also printed in color. 

Further along

 I’m actually further along than this pic shows . I’ve started the quilting on my machine. 

I plan to hand quilt around the butterflies. 

I’m trying to document my weekly progress this year. I also stitched more on the cross stitch this week.  

I’m loving the brightness of this little butterfly quilt.

January is gone

 I started a new cross stitch this week. You can see my stitching partner in my lap.

I didn’t finish the border for the butterfly quilt, but I did cut and sew a lot of patches. 

Maybe I’ll finish this week?

It’s almost a top

 It needs a wider border, but it’s almost there!

And we got snow!!! 

That’s a rare event for eastern NC. It was fun, but I’m glad to see it melt away. 

Butterflies from hexies

 This little girl took an interest when I was making butterflies from EPP  hexagons. I have to say, she seems to be a natural with a needle.

Yesterday,  we started putting the sashings in to make the quilt top. 

We are hoping to have it ready to quilt this week. I will do a little hand quilting, but most of it will tied with colorful threads.

 I searched and searched for this pattern. It’s Zoie’s kitties by Jan Patek.

You need 5 kitties to make the little quilt in the pattern. 

I’ve completed one, and question whether I’ll do all five. Ha!

I may improvise a smaller version for myself.

Two Years !!

 It’s been two years since I’ve checked in on my blog. 

I’m going to attempt to blog my stitches this year. I have so many things that I want to get done. *accountability*

A lot has changed since I last blogged, but life is still good.

Sunday Stitches

 I’m plugging away at my stitching and actually getting things done.

I’m calling the little reindeer quilt done and I’ve packed it away until Christmas comes again.

I’ve decided that this year's projects will be simple and done. 

You will notice very minimal quilting lines, then it was tacked together in the corners.

 Done!

I finished one ornament cross stitch.

And I’ve started another. I’m hoping to finish this one this week, then turn them both into ornaments. I’ll probably make them into little pillows, but I’ve been looking at different finishes that others are using. There are some incredibly talented people out there. 

Shout out to Karen at Karen Quilts, etc. she mentioned this neck light and it has been a game changer for hand stitching. I think anyone over 40 needs one! Lol Great for reading, too!

My silly simple way of getting more done these days.

Many of you have fancy little planners with color coordinated stickers and markers. I find I am easily distracted and have plenty of plain notebooks around the house.  Writing out each day’s goals helps me to stay focused.

Happy 2023! Thoughts on crafting!

 Happy New Year to my blogging friends! I hope 2023 will be wonderful for you!

I finished the Santa embroidery a few weeks before Christmas and enjoyed seeing him on my wall. (No one else seemed to notice, so I guess that’s why it’s best to craft for ourselves— Lol)

Along that same thought, I tend to see donated cross stitch in thrift stores quite often. Unless someone requests a specific cross stitch, I don’t think I would gift my x stitch pieces to anyone. (Even though I have done so in the past) Christmas ornaments, yes— but not something they’d be expected to display year round. Your thoughts?

I embroidered eight tiny reindeer, plus Rudolph.

This has been my hand stitching project while sitting with the needy little girl you see in the background. We spend a lot of time in the bedroom these days.

I’ve also joined a challenge on Instagram this year. It’s called #12in23ornamentstitchalong. (Hosted by Caroling55) We hope to stitch a Christmas ornament each month. There are so many free cute patterns available on the internet. I think this will be fun. It’s not too late to join us.
