I usually receive a little money for my birthday and it's always fun to shop for myself with my birthday money. Since we were at the beach this year, I had decided to spend my money in a local quilt shop. Imagine my disappointment when I visited the shop and found NOTHING I wanted there. The shop didn't seem as "up to date" as it had in the past and I didn't spend a lot of time in there. However, there was an adorable little consignment shop just a couple doors down (The Seahorse) and I found this precious vintage pillowcase there! (and I had birthday money left over!!) I love, love, love this pillow case and can't stop looking at the beautiful embroidery and crochet that was put into it many years ago. Don't you wish that women had never felt the need to enter the work force and that we still had time to make these beautiful creations?? so that our kids can put them in consignment stores when we are gone?
**And thank you to TRISH for the beautiful birthday card that you sent to me. I know you made it and I love the colors (matches my pillowcase, huh?)! I hope you are feeling well and enjoying that beautiful new granddaughter of yours! **
Love your present to yourself! Just beautiful! It is always interesting the "treasures" you find in the consignment shops. That is half the fun, "hunting" for them!
ReplyDeleteReading a very interesting book right now. Only the rich people could afford to sit around and make those beautiful things. Others worked from sunup to sundown and hardly had time to sew the clothes and other things they needed to just have enough. LOL
ReplyDeleteI can never pass up those old handmade things, either. It just doesn't seem right!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say how pretty I think your pillowcase is. I'm glad you got it.
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty. Glad you found something to spend that Birthday money on!
ReplyDeleteHi Pen pen,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for coming by my blog for a visit today. I had to check out the post before this one with your darling little grandson in it. What a little sweetheart he is!
I love the pillowcase that you picked up with your birthday money, it is truly beautiful!!! I really do wish women had never entered the work force, then inflation would not have risen to the point where a couple can't make it unless they are both working. I hate working an outside job, I have plenty of work right here at home and time to pursue a few pleasurable endeavors, too!
Hugs, Cindy
Beautiful pillowcase and happy birthday to a beautiful lady!!!
