October Slow Stitching

I'm still on a crocheting frenzy and I really need to stop! Who even WANTS all these dish cloths???

I have found that crocheting these granny square cloths has become an addiction!  I ordered some pretty yarns and of course, now I feel obligated to keep crocheting.

I am accumulating quite a stack (this is not all of them).  When we have our family get togethers for the holidays, I'll pass the bag around.... "A rag for you, A rag for you..... Everyone gets a rag!"  lol

I'm linking up to Kathy's Quilts: Slow Stitching Sunday .  It's fun to go there to see what others are doing with their busy fingers.

In my defense, I have only been able to grab a few stitches here and there, as we have been busy painting.  (another good thing about crochet.... it's portable and easy to add a few stitches while waiting for something else to happen.  I keep it by my glider rocker for easy access)

We have painted our dining room  and we bought a "new to us" dinette set just in time for the holidays.

Paint Color: Valspar Nostalgia

I've never had a table that seats this many people and I can hardly wait to see it filled with family and friends.  I have another small table in the kitchen that seats four more.   Bring on the fun!

How about you?  Are you getting holiday ready??

  1. I haven't seen the granny square made in dish rags - but then I am just now trying to get back into crochet - do you make them exactly like you do as if they were going in an afghan?

  6. So those are used to wash dishes? That's a great idea for giving them away. Love the blue paint and the dining set you bought is lovely. I am not ready for the holiday's but getting ready for 10 days of company coming. Amber and Dylan are coming to town to meet their nephew and Mark's mom is also coming the following week. She hasn't seen Amber in 10 years and excited to meet her great-grandson. It should be fun.

  11. I made an afghan out of granny squares once, but I have never seen them made into dish clothes.
Beautiful dining room. Great dining set. You imply that it is used, but it looks new from here!! :)

  13. Your dining set is lovely! You'll feed many around this. Painting is going on over here as well. I'll be giving thanks when it is completed. Hopefully by turkey day. I never learned to crochet or knit. Drats. You are blessed to know how.

  14. One of my favorite wedding shower gifts is a big bottle of Dawn dish soap and some dishcloths. They are always received enthusiastically. A bride for a day—a wife for life!

The Christmas rag bag idea is great.

They also make nice little gifts for the ladies at church.

The blue is so pretty in your dining room.
Still recovering from surgery here, and things have gotten rather out of sorts while I've been down, so I'll have some cleaning to do before I can prepare for the holidays. Cleaning is part of it though, is it not?

    Be blessed!
    Glad I dropped by tonight.

I like your new table too. We got our big dining table set, second hand on Facebook for a really low price. We get lots of compliments on it and I’m thankful to have it. I expect you will like yours as much as we do.

  18. Penny, I love your dish cloths! You have been so busy. I love that you make a few stitches when you can.

The table is wonderful. You now have a place for lots of loved ones to sit for get togethers! I hope your Thanksgiving is good!
