Did I ever tell you that I have a cherry tree? If you click on the picture, you can see that it is loaded with cherries this year. They are turning red, but they are usually eaten by the birds before they get ripe enough for us to eat. Anytime we've ever tried them, they are very sour! We can see this tree from our back porch and enjoy seeing the red cherries while we are sitting outside.
So the birds get them before they make a mess? The tree is pretty... maybe you have to make a cherry pie and add sugar to make them sweet...??
ReplyDeletePenPen,
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty tree. Its shape is about perfect. All round and everything! What do you do with all those cherries? And how much property do you have there?
NANCY JO
Nancy Jo, we have three acres. Everything that is growing here was planted before we bought it. I also have an apple tree and a pear tree. Use to have blackberry vines, but they were so messy that we cut those down. Same thing with a huge grapevine.... shame on us.
ReplyDeleteWow, Penny, three acres! You could make a BIG garden! LOL I bet you enjoy watching the cherry tree as it progresses from Winter to Spring to Summer and Fall.
ReplyDeleteWow! Great tree - good cherries? Hmmm..cherry pie :-)
ReplyDeleteI have almost got your necklace ready for mailing! I'll let you know when it's on it's way so you can be on the look-out for it.
Have a great Thursday, will ya?!
Okay, I have to ask this question because my hubby and I have a running arguement about fruit trees. Do you have 2 cherry trees? You see I have one plum tree in my front yard. I only planted one when we moved here 7 years ago. Hubby says to me, "you'll never get plums because it takes two for them pollinate fruite." Well, I've never had plums so it would seem his theory is true, except, I have one lemon tree and it has produced lemons the past two years. It is loaded this year. So, lemon is a fruit right? So, how do I get lemons and not plums if 2 are needed?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I have several roses around the pool. All different colors. I have a red, pink, tangerine, lilac, purple, yellow and a blush white. The tangerine has only 2 tangerine blooms thus far and is full of red ones. Does that mean the bees have cross pollinated them?
Just wondering! The cherry tree is gorgeous Penny.
Good question and I've always wondered the same. However, I only have one cherry, one apple, one pear... and they all bear fruit. :o)
ReplyDeleteI'll bet your roses are gorgeous around the pool!
I have made cherry jelly in the past, but the birds are quick to get all mine first. I actually love them, but they are "tart!!"
