July 2018

A lot has happened since my last post.  I think I'm ready to see Fall arrive this year... I need cool weather and a change of pace.

We had to say goodbye to this sweet angel last Wednesday night.  It was a very sad night and has been a very sad week for me.  This little guy taught me a lot about love.  I'll love you forever, Tumpy.

Yesterday I had a birthday:

It was a nice quiet day.  I received a few phone calls.  Hubby took me to a favorite seafood restaurant with a river view in Sneads Ferry, NC.   And I was able to take a nice nap with my other two doggies.

I did sneak away for a few days and see this little sweetie back in late June.  It was a good visit and I sure wished I could see that baby more often.  I miss her sweet mommy too.

I bought myself a quilt from an antique shop while in Tennessee.  I just loved the colors and the design.

Sweet Annabelle started preschool last month.  She LOVES getting up to "go play with her friends."

Grandma borrowed a vintage bike from their great granddaddy :-))

These two guys came to spend 9 days with Grandma and Papa  while their parents went on an anniversary trip to NY. We had a nice week.... Avery lost a tooth and Chandler learned to ride his bike without training wheels!!

We took the boys fishing one day; Avery had more luck than any of us.  It was his day.

I painted myself a new quilt block that we hung on the fence. I love the bright colors on this one.

color, color everywhere!

What I've been reading:

I read my first Jane Austen book and totally loved it.  I found an online FREE college lecture series to go along with the book, if anyone else is interested.  Hillsdale College  There are other free things to study there, too.   I also just finished reading another classic :  A Tree Grows in Brooklyn that I highly recommend.

Tumpy 2008-2018

Birthdays and deaths always make me turn inwards and examine a lot of things about my life.  (we also had two friends to pass away yesterday) It can certainly lead to depression, which seems to be easy for me to slip into... but I am trying so hard to make this into new ambition for myself.  I need to make some positive changes in my life , and I have a few ideas already.   I need to stop wasting time, as time is very precious, and it goes so quickly.  If you pray, I would love for you to add me to your list.... I sometimes wonder if anyone ever prays for me, since my Mom passed away.  :-((    If there is anyway I can help lift any of you up, please let me know.  Love to all!

  1. I am so sorry for the loss of you sweet puppy. The worse thing about getting to the age we are is the loss of loved ones. I have gone through a lot of it in the past few years. So my heart hurts for you. I just prayed for you. May God wrap you in his loving care and heal your heart.

  3. You have definitely had a lot of ups and downs in life lately, and that makes it easy to fall into depression in those who are so inclined (such as myself, my Mom, my youngest sister, and my daughters). I will keep you in my prayers. I don't want you to have to wonder if anyone is praying for you.
The bright, happy "barn quilt" you painted is beautiful, and the quilt you bought is also a smile maker.
I love Jane Austen! I reread all of her books every few years--and then I have to find moments to watch some of the movie versions.
Sorry you lost one of your sweet puppies.
    Love the purple hydrangea!

  4. This is one of the things I love about this wonderful Blog World, my friend...
We are able to connect with people we otherwise would never have known, and share life's joys and sorrows.
Please know I will indeed pry for you.
I struggle with anxiety and it is a lonely place at times.
    Happy Belated Birthday...
    Hugs!

  7. Sad news about your beloved pet. I don't know why pets do not live many more years than they do.

  10. I love that name, Tumpy, and I know you must be so sad. I prayed for you just now, as you asked, and I appreciate your offer of prayers for me, as I heal from root canal surgery, and as I am now a widow. I must tell you, 55 is young!

  11. So sorry for the loss of your beloved pet.

I've tried several different Jane Austen books, but so far I haven't been able to finish any of them. Maybe one of these days. I wish I would have been introduced to them as a teen when I couldn't get enough books to keep me supplied with reading material. Being a busy Mom now I need fast easy reads, which Jane Austen is not.

    Blessings~

  12. Hello Little PenPen,
Thank you for visiting me at "Her Peculiar Life". Many changes in our life have pulled me away from blogging but, I am hoping to return.

I extend my sympathies for your loss. Losing a beloved family pet & companion is a great loss.

As you requested for prayer, I will add you to my prayer list & leave you with the following scripture: Isaiah 54:10 "For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee."

    Blessings,
    Mrs.B

  13. I'm so sorry you lost Tumpy - it's so hard to say goodbye to our pets. And to lose two friends also, my gosh. I will certainly be praying for you hon, I too reflect on things when a birthday rolls around [Happy Belated, btw] - I just met a gal the other day, she just turned 60, a year older than me, and went skydiving for the first time! I'm lucky to make it off the couch, lol. But look at you, riding a bike - I haven't been able to do that in years, I fall off. I love your new-to-you quilt, the colors are marvelous, and that barn quilt is incredible. You'll have to tell me how you made it - I want to make one for our shed. Your grands are adorable!!!!
Lifting you up right now - big hugs, hon!

  14. Hello from Kansas. The quilt pattern you painted and placed on the fence is wonderful. I see quilt patterns around the Kansas country side and enjoy all of them as they add color and interest to the landscape. I may have to try painting one in the future. That could be very interesting.

Your GRANDS are precious. Life with lil ones is a blessing.

My sympathies about the deaths of your friends and also your pup. So very sorry.
