**Updated for Winner** R'sRue is the winner**
Well I had another birthday this past week and realized I was a year younger than I thought I was going to be. Isn't that funny?
This is the second time I have done this to myself and it's a great feeling to get to live a year younger than I had planned for another whole year. :-))
My birthday was quiet; no big celebrations, no hoopla. I received a few phone calls, several texts, and lots of facebook greetings.
We had a busy week with appointments and we ate out one day and hubby bought my favorite milkshake from Cook Out on the way home. I bought myself a few birthday gifts from Amazon. :-))
My birthday was spent at the vet's office with one of my geriatric dogs who has a massive tumor that is growing like crazy. It has been removed once , but has come back with a vengeance. The vet felt with the malignant diagnosis and his age, it is best to just keep him comfortable. Thankfully, he is in no pain, but he did break out in a weird itchy rash a few days ago. I think we have it under control now. We discussed euthanasia on my birthday, which we both agreed, my dog isn't ready for just yet. However, I had a breakdown and cried my way out of the vet's office. *sigh*
My mom died four days after my birthday in 2015. I now have this looming sense of sadness around my birthday and not to mention, we lost our precious dog, Tumpy, last year this time.
I've got to snap out of it and I will. Life is still good! God is always good!
I won a couple of give aways recently. One from Sluggy at DON' T READ THIS blog and one from Belinda at Frugal Workshop. Coming from a family of non gift givers, it's always fun to get a little surprise for myself.
Since it's so much fun, I have decided to share the fun with you. I'm hosting a give away of this cute little gingham journal, one of my favorite writing pens, and a couple of blank gift cards for YOU. I want one of you to have a fun mailbox surprise and hope it makes you smile, too.

Sometimes a calm birthday is all you need, but it sounds like your dear dog kept it from being completely stress-free. And doing your own shopping is the surest way to get the things that make you happy.
ReplyDeleteI would love a happy mail day. Thanks for the fun giveaway package.
Great photo of you and your pooch.
That is funny. I remember doing that back several years ago. Mark and I were sitting in at a doctors office filling out a form and I had my age wrong. Mark said we are not that old yet.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Sorry about the sadness around your birthday.
Happy Birthday to you!!!!!
Wishing you a belated Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday, I am sorry about your puppy. Life can be hard and I miss my mom so much today. But it is also full of joy. You are one of the things that brings me joy. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteYou are still a no reply blogger, so I am replying here. Thanks for the sweet comment. I tend to live in my own bubble and feel sorry for myself sometimes, which is silly, because I have been tremendously blessed!
DeleteI am praying for you and your precious fur-baby! Please know that you're right: life is good and God is ALWAYS GOOD, all the time!! I have always been acutely aware of my birthday age, maybe too much so!! :) What is your favorite Cook Out shake? Mine is Heath Bar, my husband's is Chocolate. Happy birthday to you, wishing you all the best today and in the days to come. Hugs~
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday dear lady. I am sorry you are having medical issues with your fur baby - hopefully he is comfortable and will be for a long while. I hate to have a baby sick.
ReplyDeleteHow cool that you won two give aways. That is neat.
How cool you are giving back as well!!! That is neat.
I'm interested in winning. Sending hugs to your furbaby. Happy Birthday to you.

Hi Rue! Thanks for stopping by. You are listed as a no reply blogger so I couldn't email you a reply.
DeleteWell happy birthday late hon - I understand how it can be so bittersweet. My friend's husband died in front of her on her birthday - so she doesn't celebrate anymore - and you know, the older I get, the less of a celebration I need or want. Same with gifts. I'm a little jealous you're a year younger than you thought you were, lol!
ReplyDeleteMy dad died in October, when I was 17, and for way too many years I would get severely depressed right around then. I didn't remember that he'd died then, just thought it was winter coming on with the grey days and cold weather. Not too long ago mum mentioned the date of his death to me, and it all made sense.
I'm so sorry about your puppers - that is so hard. Praying for you both.
Happy birthday Penny!!! I love buying birthday presents for myself. I'm sorry your little dog is so sick. I'm also sorry the time of year of your birthday is sad. I hope this gets better with time.
ReplyDeleteMy hubby's father died suddenly on his 12th birthday. So he's never been big on doing a lot on his birthday. :o(
Hugs!
Happy Happy Birthday!!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday! I did that too one year - went the whole year thinking I was a different age - had to make a big adjustment on my next birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! So sorry about your dog...
