June 2019

*** I, too, am getting attacked by SPAM, so I am changing my comment section to owner approval before posting ***

I'm telling you folks, TIME IS A'Flying!!

I can't believe June is almost over; yikes!

I had all three of my girls for a couple weeks... it was so much fun!  The little girls played so well together and I was amazed at how grown up they have become.

They asked for matching night gowns early during the visit.  They wore these gowns almost 24/7; I had to make them give them up from time to time for laundry services.

I think these girls could be BFF's if they lived closer together.  I do hope that they will grow up to know each other and be able to spend more time together.

They gave Grandma dancing lessons.

They helped Papa wash the little car.

There hasn't been much sewing go on these days.  I have picked up a little hand stitching and am enjoying a few stitches here and there.

It's hot here in NC, so I am definitely spending most of my time indoors.  I can't believe I ever used to lay out to tan, in the hot backyard in the eastern NC humidity, back when I was a teenager! I can hardly stand to walk to the mailbox  these days!

  2. Oh my goodness the girls are adorable!
I guess we all hung out in the sun when we were young. Now I am all about going for a swim either early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the sun and the heat

  4. Good to hear from you! Such precious times with those cuties.
Okay, next time maybe get TWO sets of matching nightgowns. Then there could always be one available for washing.:)
That is a cute stitched piece. And sometimes there is only time for a stolen moment of stitching now and then.

  6. Penny, I love these pictures. Those girls are so beautiful and sweet. I have 2 nieces, (now in their 40s) who were only one year apart. One lived in Sampson County and the other near Rocky Mount and they were great friends, even though they didn't see each other so much. They are still great friends. They call each other their first BFF. They go on trips together and visit each other. So I think your granddaughters will always be good friends.

I agree about the heat! How did we do all that laying out, I'll never know. And working in a tobacco field from the time I was 8 until I was 18! I would just keel over and die now if I had to do it. My body can't take it any more. LOL

    Love your stitchery too!!!

  7. Isn't it funny how we change as we get older. What was heaven to us in our teens is now misery. Kind of like loud music. I am jealous of those grand daughters.

  8. Hello Penny,
I'm getting settled into my new home which I am THRILLED to report has central air conditioning! It's been over ten years with a couple window units.
I've not written much since my husband has not yet been able to get my old computer to connect with the new internet. Soon I hope.

    I'm borrowing hubby's while he takes a well-deserved nap.

Summertime is so wonderful. I'm glad you're enjoying it.

    Blessings from Harvest Lane Cottage,

  10. How fun to have the girls with you. I can see why you have not had much time for stitching.
I like bird nest designs. Your stitchery is looking good!

  11. The time spent with your girls looks like so much fun! I'm so glad you were able to get the Hallmark card on Friday. I know what you mean about this heat and humidity. I'm ready for cold weather, lol. :)

  12. Hi Penny,
Your girls are adorable! Gotta love girls. They brighten everything. I haven't embroidered in years. I like yours. You have nice stitches. Now you can listen to a book while you stitch!
Let me know what you choose first. Are you on Goodreads?
