It's almost time!

Today is my last day in my home. Tomorrow I will take my clothes and personal things to my new home to live with my husband. I start my new job on Tuesday... two weeks of orientation... woo hoo! I'm really looking forward to working with children again.
My son gets married in about six more weeks. Changes, changes... major life events. I'm a "little" stressed, but I'm still seeing many positive things in our future. For one, when I get moved tomorrow, I will have access to a decent computer, and I promise I will post REAL pictures again!
I have several computer friends that I have lost contact with recently with the big computer change at our house. I have lost all my email addresses. If you are reading this (especially my friend, TJ, in Kansas) please drop me a quick email so I can add your address to my list again. I will be getting a new email account soon and I want to carry everyone with me.
Happy Saturday to all!

Busy week!

This is a busy week for us and I'll be glad to put this one behind us! We are working to get the house ready to sell. Painting, yard work, cleaning, etc.... all the things we should have done anyway.... but now are a necessity! We hope to call the realtor to have the house listed by the weekend. I look forward to getting into my new place... with not much to do. I miss reading all your blogs and hope to find time to play "catch up" to all your wonderful posts soon. Wish us luck.... we need to sell this house!

It is over... sniff sniff

Yesterday was my last day of work. When I woke up and got dressed for work, I thought to myself "oh, this is easy, I'm not going to cry." When I drove into the parking lot, a swarm of butterflies entered my stomach like never before. I walked into work, clocked in, put my cokes into the fridge, and as always, went by my best friend's office to say hello. When I walked in, there she sat, with tears in her eyes. She handed me a card, that I started to open, but then I started to cry too. I took the card, unopened, and put it into my tote, and told her "not now... maybe later." We hugged and I went to my station. As I arrived at my station, people started to hug me, and I cried. I went for coffee, pulled myself together, and called my son to bring my "dope" to me. Once my dope arrived, I knew it would be okay. :o) Around noon, I was paged to the private dining room where all my friends and coworkers were waiting. They had all brought a covered dish (it was like a homecoming dinner at church!) and they showered me with gifts. My friend and I both cried during the whole thing, but we made it through. The day got better after the luncheon. I was able to say goodbye to most without crying, until the end of the day, as I was telling my patients and their families goodbye. A few of them cried... and I cried. Whew, what a day! I can honestly say that yesterday's party was probably the best party I've ever had in my life... I felt loved... and that's all any of us can ask for... is to be loved!
On, to new beginnings.... I talked to a friend on Wednesday night who still works at the job I will be returning to after 11 years. She made me excited about returning to my old job and I am truly looking forward to relearning the things I used to do there. My heart is a little heavy this morning, but the sun is shining, the birds are singing... and I'm looking forward to moving on.
Have a wonderful day!

Here and there...

I hope everyone had a nice St. Patrick's Day. I shopped all day. It was a lovely day. I promised you "real" pictures soon... well, I bought a new pig yesterday, and can't wait to show you its picture. However, my antique computer at home, for some reason, won't allow my new software to upload pic's. Next week, I'll be in my new home again, and I promise there will be pictures!

This cartoon reminds me of a dear friend that I used to work with a few years ago. He was a little short man with a full white beard who had the quirkiest sense of humor of almost anyone I know. I remember when he came to interview for his position and I saw him come through the door. I could tell he would be a funny person with a sense of humor... he was wearing a sailor shirt with a sailor's cap... for his job interview! He and I ended up sharing an office and he became one of my best friends ever... sort of like a father to me. He passed away a year ago from cancer and I think of him often. St. Patrick's day really brings back his memory, because he looked so much like a little leprachaun.

Thursday is my last day of work on my current job. Can I say I'm now happy about that? We had a really rough weekend (abuse investigation) and I hope I never have to be involved with anything like that again! I bought new scrubs yesterday (fun and happy scrubs) and am looking forward to moving on.

My baby turns 21 this month. Where does the time go? My children have grown into wonderful young adults and I am so proud of them.

We have a wedding that will be here very soon. Guess who doesn't have her dress yet? Yep, me! I shopped yesterday and found a really really nice one, but it is too late to order it. Yep, that's me! I do, however, have the option of buying the one off the rack... I may just go back and do that.

Hope your week is going well. What have you been up to?

My new country look!

Even though many people think the country look is no longer popular, I still love it, and think I always will. I purchased this bedspread for our new apartment and it was delivered to my house today. I was afraid it would be a little too red, but when I opened the box, I was excited to find just the right color inside.... it's brick red with cream accents. I bought the little pillow you see in the center of the picture too. I can't wait to see how it will all look on "our" bed.

Next week will be my last week of work at my current job. I'm receiving lots of goodbyes and well wishes already, which makes me feel sort of sad. I'm truly looking forward to a new beginning, but knowing that I am closing another chapter in my life here brings mixed emotions. I have met many wonderful people here and developed friendships with several people that I will truly miss.

I think living in different areas of the state during my husband's career has been a very rewarding experience and I wouldn't take anything for it. If we had not done so, I would have never met a few very special people in my life, who will never know just how much they have touched my heart. I'm amazed at God's goodness and how he put the right people in the right places, just for me, to make my life a little more special. Thank you, God, for the wonderful people you have blessed my life with!

I'm still here!

Really, I'm still here! I've not been reading blogs like I want to and have a lot of catching up to do, but I promise I will. Hubby and I are still in the process of moving a few things to set up his new "man cave", as he calls it. When he returned home from work yesterday, I had hung a cute, cute, cute Easter banner on his front door. His coworker teased him about it, but I reminded him that I will be living here with him soon. hee hee

My last day of work will be March 20 and I will be starting a new job the first part of April. I will have a couple weeks off in between jobs and hope to finish moving my things to the new man cave. (will no longer be called a man cave at that point) This place is little, but it has a lot of decorating potential. While sitting around in here, my mind is constantly racing with ideas of how to make it cute and livable for the next year. Of course, I don't want to spend too much money doing so, since this place is very temporary, but I do want to "smile" when I walk in the door.

I could get into trouble while living here. My favorite store, TJ Maxx, (and several other great stores) are just a block or two away from my home! What a dream come true! I hope I can discipline myself to not go into the store everyday. I hope to find the library here next week. I love libraries and look forward to checking out this town's book collection.

We ordered pizza last night and it took 1 1/2 hours for it to arrive. Needless to say, it was cold and they didn't get our order right. I had my taste buds set on a veggie pizza and it didn't arrive. I called the pizza place and they told me they could have one out within two hours. It was almost 9:00 pm then.... no thanks! Maybe another time.... from a different pizza place.

So, I sent hubby out to the grocery store (two blocks from home) to buy some Reese's cups for me. He came back with a 10 pack. I finished the last one this morning! hmmmm.... from veggie pizza to 10 Reese's cups.... what a healthy person I am.

On a healthy note: I have found a spot for our treadmill in this tiny little place. It will be in the corner of the livingroom, which is not very attractive, but at least it will be here. Maybe then, if I want a Reese's cup, I can walk out the craving on the treadmill. ha! Or at least, walk WHILE eating my candy.

It's raining here today.... raining ... raining.... raining. I have yet to see this new town with sunshine. Each time I have visited, it has rained. Rain, cold pizza, Reese's cups..... welcome home!

I promise I will bring my camera and post "real" pictures soon! Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend!

It's all good!

I'm smiling today, so my roller coaster of emotions is climbing upwards today. Tomorrow may be a different story, so enjoy today, right? I was able to accomplish getting internet service and email (on my own) today. Big success, as I am practically computer illiterate! We have brought the old computer inside, which hasn't been used in a few years. Thankfully, everything works okay, but I feel like I have stepped back in time. I'm sure there must be a way to fix it, but the letters and images are HUGE on this computer. I feel as if I'm in elementary school all over again. When I get moved in with hubby, I'll be using his new computer, so I can deal with this temporary issue. I have lots to do today, but all I really want to do is stay inside and rest. I wish I could have a day of coffee or hot chocolate, soup, movies, and sewing. Wouldn't that be a great day? Maybe soon.....

I'm computer...less!

If you've noticed that I am missing, well, I have been! We are in the process of moving a few things.... hubby's computer included. We never did have the "family" computer set up in this home, as we all enjoyed using hubby's computer, because it was a little better than ours. Now that he has taken his computer with him to his new home, we are stuck here without good computer access, which means no email, because I don' t know my password to check email from the internet. I plan to work on that situation Wednesday on my next day off! So, if you have emailed me and I haven' t responded.... that's why! I spent the last four days in our new duplex with hubby.... boy, it's a lot smaller in that place than here at home. I was exhausted after arriving home Sunday night and ended up having a poor me, pitiful me moment when I got home. I am dreading leaving my nice roomy home for a two bedroom duplex. I know, I know..... get over it... it's only temporary. I always go through all kinds of mixed emotions when we move. You would think I could handle it well, as we have quite a bit of experience by now. I don't know how military families survive.... I cannot imagine packing up every two years and going where ever the military sends us! This should be a final move for us, so I'm going to put my big girl panties on and make the most of this last move! Pray for me as I'm really feeling nutty right now!

Photo Hunt "Free"

Free Milk (see Ancient One's blog for Photo Hunt link... I don't know how to put a link in my post) Someone puts up a theme word every week and participants send in a photo representing the theme word. My mom was torn between two photo's, so I'm posting her other one here... representing the word: free! These are my dad's horses.... aren't they sweet?

Weekend's over! :o)

Thank you, Jesus, that another long weekend of work is over! I think the moon must be full, or getting full, as the nursing home was very busy this weekend. Lots of viruses .... throwing up and sick stomachs... yuk. Behaviors were escalating... one lady slapped my coworker three times and put a huge bruise on her arm! Families seemed "needier" than ever.... walking our poor legs off! I know, I know... that's what we are there for and that's what we get paid for. But boy, am I glad this weekend is behind us!

I got home Saturday night to see my dogs. ( Son and a friend were checking on them throughout the day for me) Big dog had found an ink pen and chewed it up. Guess what was all over the carpet? Big black ink spots!!!! We are getting ready to put our house on the market and were trying to decide whether to replace the carpet or not. Guess what? Big dog has decided for us! New carpet will be in our near future. Hopefully, dog has helped us sell the house!!!! :o)

On a good note, my left chest is feeling much better. The pain is almost gone, for which I am very thankful. Dear son is still sick. (has been coughing, etc. since Christmas) We finally talked him into seeing the doctor this morning. They say this current illness is new, not the same thing he has had since Christmas (he now has a fever). They are calling it the flu. He has a Rx for good cough medicine and an order for REST for about five days. Do you think he will rest? Why, NO! Please get well, son!

Hubby will be moving into his new apartment this week. I plan to seek new employment this week so I can move with him. I hope to be with him by the end of March. I'm getting very excited about the move, but will miss the extra room we have here. We plan to leave the house set up , though, so we can come back on our days off and "move around". :o)

The yo yo maker (see post below) is awesome! I sat down Thursday night and made my first yo yo and it was absolutely perfect. I recommend it to everyone who wants to have a neat travel project to take along with them. Yo yo's are instant gratification... just so much fun!

That's about it from me this morning. Got to get my nails redone today. They are red, grown out, and ugly. Must have good looking nails for a job interview this week. Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentine's Day to everybody! I hope you have a wonderful romantic day with the one you love. We woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow this morning. Just when we think Spring is here.... here comes the snow. Not complaining, as it is very pretty! I was in Wal Mart yesterday and it was fun watching all the men crowded around the Valentine displays. There were old men, young men, cute men, ugly men.... and they were all trying to please a certain someone in their life. It was fun to see them come through the register with their tokens of love..... cards, candy, flowers, balloons, stuffed animals. You could almost tell what kind of man he was by looking at the gift he had picked out for his special one. Some had a sense of humor, while others were very serious, and some just knew better than to come home empty handed! I need to go back to Wal Mart today for a refund and I think the Valentine show will be even better today. It will be fun to see the men who waited until the last minute, sorting through the picked over goods, to find that special something, so they don't get into trouble tonight. (I'll probably see MY hubby in that crowd) Ha! Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
