Surprise!
Don't you just love surprises? I have a pretty wreath on my front door made with silk flowers. I noticed two birds flying around my porch for the past few days. I mentioned it to my husband and he told me they were probably building a nest in my wreath. Oh no! I thought.... we'll be attacked by birds. I went inside to inspect the wreath from inside the front door glass and look what I found.... A perfectly formed and beautiful bird's nest, buried within my arrangement, almost like I had put it there myself for decoration. The little bird had come so far, I dare not disturb her work and her future plans of hatching babies there. Today when I inspected her work, I found her first egg! My husband wants to rope off the front porch area to keep people from getting near the nest. I told him I will put a sign on the front door, hoping people will notice before they get attacked by the mama bird. Just a few weeks of inconvenience.... not being able to use the front door... will be worth the perfect view I have of God's creatures in all their glory!
What a beautiful gift! A true bird's-eye-view of a wonderful miracle!

Sweet photo....I remember when the boys were little we would let them watch the mama and look at the baby birds...they loved it.

That is so nice.. to be able to see the whole thing from the inside of your house. I would be looking every few minutes..ha ha You might even get to see them hatch!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are so sweet to take care of the babies and their mama. Seems like I read something like this on your Mama's blog.... They found a possum and her babies and left them alone....you must have gotten that special trait from her! She also takes care of the gineaus (sp?) and their eggs.
ReplyDeleteWe unlocked our front door at work recently and found baby doves walking around on the porch. Our office is an old two story house. We felt special because the doves are a symbol of peace, etc.
Great. I love birds. I posted a hummingbird nest on my blog.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky you are and how lucky your little visitors are that you will let them stay and protect them.
