Testing 1 2 3

Hello out there!  I'm trying a different way of blogging today.  I hope it works, because I miss posting.  I still read blogs most everyday and I love seeing what everyone is up to this summer.
Just a funny Annabelle picture

Since my last post on trying to make lists and get more done, I have to say life has been going better.  I'm not where I want to be, but I have managed to get a few more things checked off my list.  Since I gave up ebaying, I no longer feel the urgency to check the thrift stores several times a week.

I'm trying to keep my 'leaving the house" days to a minimum.  My goal is to only leave two times a week on a normal week.   I feel much more relaxed and can get so much more done on days that I can stay home all day.

I made zucchini muffins this morning using this recipe:  (I hope you can enlarge it if interested)

It's one I found on Pinterest and this is my second time making them.   A nice old timey recipe that is very good.

I made six jumbo muffins and two miniature bundt cakes.  I only have two of the bundt cake pans, but hope to get a few more soon.  These make nice little gifts, especially for single people or couples.

Notice this dish towel.  It's one I embroidered for my grandmother several years ago.  After she died, it was returned to me.... unused.... even though I had told her to please use it.

Once it was returned to me, I thought how silly for us to make pretty things, but never use them.  I have put the towel to good use and think of her when I pull this one from the drawer.  That's another thing I want to do for myself; embroider more pretty dish towels.  I will enjoy them and I know my grandchildren will like them when they visit.

Avery, Chandler, Annabelle, Brinley Kate

Speaking of grandchildren, here they are in a picture we took at Chandler's preschool graduation in May. (He's the cute guy in the necktie)  Annabelle (in green dress) was here visiting with her mom from TN, so it was a rare occasion to get a photo of all my grand's in one photo.

It's been a great summer so far!  I hope yours is going well too.

  1. Hey there Penny! What a great picture of all your grandkids together. They are all beautiful and handsome! Its hard to get all mine in a picture and they never want to look in the same direction. And look at that sweet girl in the first pic!

I bet those muffins are delicious. Love old timey recipes like that. The reason the recipe is still around is because its good. Bet your husband loves them.

There is nothing I like better than to stay home. Love your idea to only go out a couple times a week. I stayed home all day today... loved it. Other than church I'll be home tomorrow too.

I have some embroidered dish towels that I need to use too. You are right, we should use things and not just put them up for some day.

    :o)

  2. Your list making seems to be helping you, I do like to cross an item or two off of my list. Annabelle is a cutie.

  4. I remember as a child getting a used greeting card box with dish towels and embroidery supplies. One of the best Christmas gifts I received as a child. My mother had them stamped with designs and I forget what the designs were. But I do remember finishing them very quickly and gave them as a birthday gift to my sister's mother-in-law. And my mother joked that she thought I would give them to her.

I really enjoyed your post... those muffins look totally yummy too!!!
I love the cute pic of Annabelle and of all your grands... I hope you like the way you are writing on your blog now... because it is fun to read what you are up to...

We have a few things for sale on eBay ... but just things we have an excess of ... we also limit our trips out and about... but try to tie in beach trips as a reason to be out for!! lol!

Take care and thanks for blogging and enjoy that very sweet towel... I love your handiwork on it!

  6. I love the idea of making zucchini bread in mini bunt pans. I have a particularly large zucchini I just pulled in from the garden yesterday and I plan to make bread with it. I may use my mini bunt pans instead of muffin tins. Great idea!

  7. I love hand embroidered dish towels. I'm afraid with teens at home, they are sometimes quite stained. ~smile~ Some things just need a paper towel. Know what I mean? I like the ones embroidered in just red. I may make some one of these days. My dish towels consist of odds and ends I've picked up at yard sales and gifts I've received over the years. Four kids at home kept me busy.

I've been knitting simple hats and crocheting flowers to go on them. I expect to give the ones that I don't use to the chemo center. They have a counter where people leave hats and scarves and chemo port pillows for patients for free. I love that!

    Be blessed!
