January 2, 2012

Well, here is is:  the second day of the year and I've been thinking about my sewing goals all day.  I had to work on the 1st (which was a very eventful day at work, I might add.  I found out, once again that the Heimlich Maneuver does work! I hope you know how to perform this life saving technique)  so no sewing was done.

However, I did lay out and sandwich the wall hanging I want to complete as my first project for this year.  I'm trying a new  quilt batting that has an iron on adhesive, so there is no need for pinning.  We'll see how that works out.  I'm excited about finishing this and getting it on the wall.

(Penpen and April)
Here's a picture of me and my sweet daughter on Christmas morning.  We had traveled for three hours to eat Christmas breakfast with her grandmother, who is also my mother in law, and hubby's mom.  It was an early day and we were exhausted after driving for three hours to get there, but we had a great time.  My sweet daughter was violently ill that night with a stomach bug that lasted for a couple days.  Thankfully, no one else in the family got sick, but several of her coworkers had the same bug.

And lastly,  I leave you with my top ten facebook status' for 2011.  I have a love--hate relationship with facebook.  I have tried to leave it several times, but keep coming back.  I can't bear to not see all the pretty pic's that others post of their families.  However, I have found that  it's not good telling others every move you make and it's not good to know every move that others make.  Facebook.... I hate.... I mean....  I love you.  :-)  Have any of you left facebook for good?

  1. Love that little quilt!

Facebook and I have the same relationship. That is one of my resolutions this year, not to respond to anything on facebook until I have thought about it for at least an hour or two because apparently I have "diarrhea of the fingers". Apperently this means I type without thinking how other people will take what I typed if they don't know me well. :/

I would love to leave Facebook except it is the only way some of my siblings (I'm the oldest of 8) will stay in contact with me.

Can't wait to see what that little quilt looks like when you get it all done. :)

  2. Penny, your wall hanging will be so pretty. I haven't tried that kind of batting. I bet it will be a time saver.

    Sorry April was sick!

I don't like Facebook. I left it but can sign in if I need to. I don't like seeing what everybody is doing all the time. I guess I'm just a blog girl. :o)

  8. Hi Penny,
I left FB too. I don't need to know everyones business. I would rather talk to my people on the phone or write them.
I loved the picture of you and April. So very pretty.
    Hugs,

  9. Hi PEN PEN,
Pretty quilt top, I have several that my aunt gave me, she likes to make the tops and then she moves on to another top, so I have to put the back on them. Most of them are not real big. So I really should be doing that. LIST!
Cute picture of you and your daughter.
My kids said I should sign up on facebook, so I did, it lasted about two hours, then I got out of there.
Happy New Year to you and your family.

  10. I left facebook one time but it wasn't long that I was back. I didn't like knowing when and where everyone was and thought that was silly until I realized that I was missing my families posts and pics! So I went back on. So the ones that post every detail, I just scroll down and get to the ones I love. I actually LOVE facebook. I don't post a lot but I do read and look at pics. I have found a lot of good recipes and devotions!

  11. That is going to be a beautiful wall hanging. I have never heard of batting with adhesive on it, sounds like a good idea.

  12. Hi Penny - SO sweet of you to come by and offer your prayers and encouragement for my dear young friend Kristen! Thank you so much. I am honored to have so many Godly blogfriends that are willing to share in each other's burdens!

I've been hankering to do some more quilting - it's been years...I've got a painting to do first, and then the garden, and work, and then a trip to see the kids,... and does it ever stop?!!!!
