A *Completed* Quilt!

Believe it or not... I finally finished a quilt. It has been years (and years) since I've made a quilt. Even though this is a small baby quilt, it feels good to finish it. We won't talk about how long it took me to complete it. :-) I made this quilt using fabric I already had on hand. I wasn't thrilled with it, so added the verse trimmed in red ric rac, as a late addition. I like the verse, but wasn't happy with the way the ric rac was sewn on. I don't think I've ever used ric rac in a project before.
Check out that binding! Instructions by Debbie J. from her quilting blog. Her instructions were perfect, and so easy to follow. Thanks Debbie!

If you click on the picture, you can read the verse. This was also my first attempt at machine quilting. I loved it and will definitely do that again. I will probably make my "quilting" stitches larger next time.

It's difficult to get a picture when I'm home alone. If I put the quilt on the bed, my dogs would jump on it... so I have draped it across my mirror on my NEW bedroom suite. (did I tell you I got a new set for Christmas? I love it!) Anyway, this was a good "practice" quilt... now I'm ready to get busy and really make something pretty!

  1. Penny! I am speechless! This quilt is absolutely gorgeous and you did such a great job. I love the bright colors and the scripture verse trimmed with ricrac. It will be treasured by its new owner. You should do more quilts!!!!! :o) You are very creative.

  2. Your quilt is beautiful! I admire anyone who can quilt. I have made two in my life and that is enough. I am not a detail person. But sometimes I wish that I was not like that, then I could create the lovelies like you do. Hugs, Cindy S.

No My catus didn't bloom either. It did have some flowers in Oct. It seems to be mixed up.

  4. I love it! I haven't quilted in years. We used to make baby quilts as a ministry at our church, but haven't done it in a while.

  5. Good morning to you! Thanks for stopping by with your kind comments on my little farmhouse kitchen! I just love your profile picture - now that's a real hot dog, well a tired dog anyway.

Nice job on the quilt there - I love the bright colors and your backing fabric - guess it's going to be for your new little grandson!

  6. Very pretty! I like making baby quilts, because I'm impatient and the other ones take too long.
